New Site & some Griza.co.uk History

Category: Blog

Hi all i have recently had some time where i have been able to continue work on my website and actually make it worth while as you have probably noticed i have recently updated it with a new word-press skin and some general house-keeping. Ensuring that all of the blogs are still accurate and adding some more sites to the blog-roll. I think that the new skin and updated fell to the site is pretty awesome but please feel free to leave your comments and possible improvements. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank any of my readers for their time and to explain a little of the history of Griza.co.uk. This September the site is coming up for its second birthday so id like to talk about a little history. The domain was purchased from 123reg in September 2006 and was run as a free page hosted by them as can be seen here courtesy of the waybackmachine until 15th of May 2007 when it changed hosts and became a word-press based web blog. It ran as a standard blog until february 28th 2008 when it was updated to its current style and theme.

Once again thanks for reading and there will be more soon probally on my last holiday.

Canon 400d + New lens

Category: Blog

I was doing a bit of house-keeping on my site the other day and i realised that in my first post i mentioned the fact that i would be getting a Canon 400d. well i thought it was about time that i followed this point up. I now have a Canon 400d and have done for some time, I have also recently received a new lens for my camera i now have the following;

EF-S 18 55mm USM (kit lens)

EF 50mm

50mm

The new 50mm lens is brilliant and it only cost me £25 which is a bargain if u ask me and produces some really crisp photos for example;

My Fish
anyway its getting late now and i have uni in the morning so im gonna be off.

Light Painting Sunday

Category: Blog

Today was one of them days, i had to get up for work at half seven and get in for half eight, which on a Sunday is an absolute pi** take if you ask me. Work just dragged on and on, this was not helped by some of my colleagues who have made it their mission to torture me lol. When i finished work at four i decided to meet up with Sam and Henry, who then came round and we decided to play Assassins Creed on the PS3 for a little while “Which by the way is an awesome game”. at about nine pm we went out and decided to do some night photography because i needed some new photo’s. so we headed for the Hayling Billy line because it has some awesome dark tunnels that can be used for light painting

Griza 08

This photo is now going to be my new trademark image for this year unless i decided to make a better one but we will have to wait and see :).

When we was on our way to Havant we decided to meet up with Tazz and she said that she wanted to come and do some photography with us so we went for a two hour drive through the country and crazy fog and ended up back in Havant where we took these pictures. Sam decided that it would be a cool idea to try and make an energy effect with the LED’s so we went with that.

Sony PS3

Category: Blog

Hey everyone, its been a while since i have posted on my site because i have been very busy with some Uni work . Now though i have a spare 5 minutes i thought id tell you all about my new Sony PS3. I know lots of people that keep telling me that the XBOX 360 is a better console and there are some occasions where i would agree until i opened the box of my new console and plugged it in. The gameplay of the PS3 is amazing and the graphics are even better and there are always the bonuses of have rechargable controllers as standard and blutooth and oh yea a built in Blu ray drive. All this said and done though i have always been a strong Sony supporter and i feel that if you are looking at getting a console try both the PS3 and XBOX and decide for yourself which suits you. Oh and we must not forget the quirky Nintendo Wii.

Queen Mary 2 Holiday

Category: Holiday

During august last year i went on the Queen Mary 2 with my family. The Cruise was a 14 night trip around the Mediterranean During which we stoped at the following destinations.

Vigo

Vigo QM2

Vigo Exit

Vigo was the first stop of the trip and for me was possibly the most boring place on earth (sorry for the negative start) because all that the place had to offer was shopping and its not even like they were impressive shops just clothes. The worst part about it is the fact that i have to go back there this year on a different cruise lol so i think i am just going to stay on the boat this time and drink.

Barcelona

Me at Goudi's Church

Goudi

Barcelona was one of the stops that i was really looking forward to because of all the great sites there was too see for example Goudis church and the Olympic stadium, once again there were shops and lots of them but i managed to find a shop that sold Tag Heuer watches (real ones) very cheaply, so i had to investigate.

Canne

Canne Harbour

Canne was an amazingly beautiful place it had some amazing scenery but unfortunately i did not get to spend much time there because me and dad decided to go on the day excursion to the principality of Monaco.

Monaco

The F1 tunnel in Monte Carlo

Monte Carlo Casino

F1 Tunnel in Monte Carlo

Monaco Hair Pin

The Hair Pin

Monte Carlo Hotel

This was my second favorite stop of the trip after the infamous Rome, this place is absolutely breath takeing the only problem is you only really need a day to see all of the sights but that could be streached to two if you wanted to take your time. Monaco is split into two halves Monaco itself which is at the top of the Monaco Hill and Monte Carlo which is where the Grand Prix circuit is aswell as the Monte Carlo casino and hotel (see pictures). The highlight of the day for me was seeing the F1 circuit and walking its length with my dad also managing to get some great shots of the various stages of the track.

Rome

St Peters

Trevi Fountain

Rome was by far the best stop on the journey and i would love to visit this city again the sheer scale of some of the buildings mixed with thier historical importance is astounding im not going to say much about this im just going to show you pictures instead.

Pisa

Pisa

Pisa was another of Italy’s amazing stops essentially there is only one thing you want to see in Pisa an that is the leaning tower but the thing that struck me about the tower is how close it is to the center of Pisa itself because in photos it always seems to be in its own space but in reality it is very close to many shops and restaurants and is also close to the cathedral that it belongs to because it is actually a bell tower for those of you who didn’t know.

Gibraltar

Gibralta

The great rock, This is a must for anybody who has a spare day when you are traveling through the mediterranean because all of its inhabitants can speak English and the currency is the pound oh yea!! but seriously there are some really neat things to see and do here for example the caves and the monkey habitat you have to be careful of them though because i have been told they do bite and are known to steal things that are not attached to you.

Lisbon

Lisbon

Unfortunately Lisbon was a bit of a let down for me because we did not get to spend much time here and what i did see of the city was just shops but i would like to go back and explore the place in more detail.

The Queen Mary 2

Queen Mary 2

This was the best holiday i have had ever and was well worth the hefty price tag that comes with the holiday i would recommend to anyone to give cruising a chance purely because of the amazing number of sights you can see from one hotel lol.
